Cross Word Author Interview

READING Right Now

This week’s interview with Derek Baxter was super fun. His book The Forgotten World War is filled with little known history that we should know about the founding of America. But have forgotten.

I was astounded to learn that our allies France and Spain spent almost 30 billion dollars in aid for the American Revolution. We owe much to Europe. Not just our ancestry but also our founding. Something that in current times I believe we forget

Historical narratives are of a particular high quality on the American publishing scene these days The past couple of books I have featured accentuate the everyday voices in the historical event..Sacajawea in the The Vast Experience by Craig Fehrman or the mother 10,000 years ago who lost her son in Patrick Wyman’s Lost Worlds. The voices of the ordinary who did something extraordinary. Every voice makes a difference. How we hear those voices also makes a differences.
